Abstract
The idea of establishing a city based on different, greener, and more sustainable foundations is not new and first emerged at the end of the 1980s. Smart cities aim to facilitate increasingly complex urban living for their inhabitants, as the urban population exhibits a constant upward trend. The primary goal of these new urban entities is to enable residents to live more easily, functionally, healthily, and better, with the most rational use of time. This possibility is made feasible through the widespread use of advanced technologies, without whose integration the concept of a smart city cannot be realized. The paper presents a method for measuring the implementation of the smart city concept by using an index of smart cities developed by IMD, the World Competitiveness Center.
