Sport brings many social benefits that are reflected in general physical and mental health, building sportsmanship, increased satisfaction, as well as socially desirable forms of behaviour. However, investments in sport also cause numerous economic effects such as the creation of new jobs, local and national economy growth, the development of local tourism, the growth of the construction industry, the growth of tax revenues, the development of infrastructure, the promotion of the country’s image, etc. The aim of this paper is to assess the impact of the sports industry, expressed in the export of sports goods and public allocations for sports and recreation, on the economic development of eleven post-socialist countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the period between 2012 and 2022. The paper applied the Within two-way panel regression fixed effects model, the results of which were confirmed by further using of the Artificial Neural Network model. Both methods used confirmed that the strongest and statistically significant impact on the economic development of the considered countries belongs to the exports of sporting goods, followed by a somewhat weaker, but also positive and statistically significant impact of public expenditure on sport and recreation. The article concludes that, although positive and statistically significant, the impact of these variables is still minor compared to some other factors that largely determine the economic trends of the country. Despite this, investments in sport and the development of the sports industry should be increased due to the numerous wider, direct and indirect benefits that sport brings to the entire society.

In contemporary society, the global interconnectivity of various sectors, including international governance, sport, and sustainable development, has become increasingly evident. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by the United Nations, outlines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that address economic, social, and environmental dimensions of global development. Beyond its traditional role in recreation and competition, sport is increasingly recognized as a powerful instrument for promoting peace, social inclusion, education, and public health. International organizations play a pivotal role in harnessing sport as a catalyst for achieving the SDGs. Through strategic initiatives, collaborative programs, and policy integration, entities such as the United Nations (UN), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the World Health Organization (WHO), FIFA, and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation actively contribute to advancing goals related to health promotion, quality education, gender equality, social equity, and the creation of sustainable communities. The aim of this paper is to explore the role of these international organizations in utilizing sport as a mechanism for social transformation and sustainable development. The research focuses on the strategies, frameworks, and programs implemented by these institutions to support key SDGs. Employing a descriptive, primarily qualitative analysis, the study draws on official policy documents, scientific literature, institutional publications, and organizational reports that examine the intersection of sport and development. Findings highlight the substantial contribution of sport to the realization of the SDGs, while also acknowledging persistent challenges in translating international strategies into actionable policies at the national and local levels. Although numerous sport-based initiatives have yielded positive outcomes, the research identifies a need for strengthened institutional frameworks, enhanced financial investment, and more effective alignment of sport policies with broader global development agendas.

Modern tourism trends indicate an increasing need for tourists for active and interactive holidays, where tourists form their attitude and assessment of quality, as well as subjective values of tourist services primarily by observing the basics of tourist services such as transport, hotel and catering services, but increasingly also based on additional content and services available to tourists (sports, recreational and cultural activities). Research conducted around the world indicates a close connection between the level of consumer satisfaction and their perception of the quality of the tourist product. The main objective of this research is to determine the attitudes of service providers and visitors (hotel guests) of the tourist destination Ohrid on the importance of additional content (sports, recreational and cultural activities) for forming an attitude about consumer-tourist satisfaction. This research was conducted on a sample of 300 respondents (140 male and 160 female) who stayed in hotels in Ohrid. For the purposes of this research, a questionnaire was designed for visitors (tourists) of the tourist destination Ohrid with 10 questions that represent the basic variables of this research. All recorded responses were processed using standard statistical procedures, using the descriptive statistics method. The software package SPSS-14.0 was used for data processing. The results were interpreted textually and graphically. The obtained results tell us that the respondents who were hotel guests are mostly satisfied with the tourist offer, but in their statements they especially emphasize that in addition to lake tourism, which is currently the leading one in Ohrid, work should be done to improve the conditions for the promotion of new tourist offers that follow global trends in the field of sports, recreation and cultural tourism, which would enable sustainable development of tourism throughout the year. The research shows that the largest number of respondents expressed a desire to return to the same tourist destination, but it also points to the necessity of further determining the factors of consumer satisfaction.

Organizing the nutrition of athletes represents a crucial factor for their professional advancement and is a key part of everyday life without which success is impossible. Sports clubs pay special attention to organizing proper supplementation and nutrition. In recreational sports, it is often said that nutrition accounts for 70% of the impact, while exercise accounts for 30% of athletes' physical fitness. Without adequate nutrition, it is impossible for the body to endure the efforts both in training and in sports competitions. The recovery of athletes after strenuous exercise is conditioned by quality nutrition and proper supplementation. This paper was created for the needs of the management of Belgrade swimming clubs by reviewing the latest global research in the field of sports nutrition and supplementation, by students and professors of the Faculty of Sport

The concept of a smart city is a technologically modern urban area focused on its citizens, in which contemporary technologies, electronics and sensors are applied with the aim of collecting specific data and using them for assets and resource management, as well as improving the efficiency of local services and reducing energy, operating and other costs. As such, it encompasses a wide range of initiatives, from more advanced urban transport networks and communal services, through more efficient lighting, all the way to more interactive and responsive city administration and the development of integrated infrastructure. The goal of this article is to determine the relevance and importance of the most common smart innovations and intelligent communications related to the modern concept of a smart city, by applying the desk research method. In addition to the analysis of the smart cities’ global market, the article also provides a detailed overview of the most significant smart innovations and intelligent communications on which the functioning of modern smart cities rests. The authors conclude that smart cities represent our imminent future, especially in light of ongoing climate change, the threat of new pandemics and natural disasters, and the need for sustainable development.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the emergence and consequences of cartel agreements in the global sports market, as well as to point out the harmful effects of prevailing forms of non-competitive market behaviour. Cartels in sports are collusive agreements among rival teams that jointly perform on the market with the aim of protecting mutual business interests. The sports market cartelization arose as a result of the growing commercialization of the sports industry, which transformed many sports organizations, teams and clubs into a kind of business with enormous profits. The article applies meta-analysis and desk research, that is, a systematic review and analysis of relevant scientific and professional papers in this field. Cartel agreements in contemporary elite sports directly undermine free competition among players by controlling their rights during drafts, their contracts, their salaries and terms of players’ trade, as well as by imposing restrictions on their club membership. In this way, the sports market cartelization jeopardizes the public interest, neglects the social community needs, and undermines the integrity of the sport itself. Other forms of anticompetitive behaviour are here also presented, such as unfair sports market behaviour, agreements on salaries, transfer rules, commercialization of broadcasting rights, pre-arranged agreements in the tickets’ sale, etc. This topic is naturally followed by some ethical considerations that point to the controversies of the modern sports and the connection between the economic success of cartels and their unethical behaviour. Cartels bring enormous benefits to a minority to the direct detriment of the majority of stakeholders in the sport, and thus the wider social interest.

Cilj istraživanja predstavlja sveobuhvatno sagledavanje i razumevanje problema i dimenzija aktuelne pandemije COVID-19 u funkciji održivog razvoja sporta.
