U kontekstu preplitanja faktografije i fikcije, specifična upotreba sportskih novinarskih žanrova i karakterističan jezik sportskog novinarstva doprinose jezičko-stilskoj jedinstvenosti ovog književnog dela.

Amidst the whirlwind of information and technological achievements shaping our daily life and work, people encounter numerous opportunities and challenges. As the economy undergoes transformative shifts, career development directions are unpredictable, and workplace requirements and needs are diverse. In the context of modern education and the prevalence of English as a lingua franca of business, the aim of this article is to examine how Business English courses are addressing these pressing demands and to explore potential new models aligned with the evolving requirements of the business world. By analysing the current content of Business English course books, examining available academic research in the field of Business English teaching and learning, and considering prevailing job requirements in the globalised business environment, we endeavor to propose innovative paradigms for the design of Business English courses. The findings indicate that the design of Business English courses demands a multidisciplinary approach. Such courses require constant updating and upgrading in order to remain aligned with the dynamics of the new era and to provide students with pertinent and timely instruction. This adaptive approach is essential for staying relevant in the modern world of continuous development and acceleration, while equipping students with the skills needed to navigate the challenges of the contemporary business environment.

Engaging lesson content lays the foundation for effective language learning. Therefore, providing materials that address a student’s specific interests and resonate with them on a deeper level can positively motivate learning. According to Abraham Maslow, apart from the four basic needs that must be met first (food, safety, love, and self-esteem), people also strive for self-actualization. In light of this, the aim of our paper is to show how podcasts, with the potential to encourage personal fulfilment and self-expression, may be used as motivating teaching materials for improving language skills in a fun and informative way.

The study explores the integration of linguistic landscapes into English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction within the context of contemporary Serbia, aiming to expand language awareness, lingua-pragmatic competence, and critical thinking among learners. Against the backdrop of Anglo-globalisation, the study seeks to establish a model applicable to foreign language teaching, with a focus on language contacts and their impact on the linguistic landscape. The research employs a comprehensive sociolinguistic analysis of the linguistic landscape in Serbia, investigating the anglicisation of official names of entities such as companies, shops, and agencies. The study scrutinises the corpus of linguistic landscapes to identify patterns and socio-linguistic phenomena, developing a model for integrating these landscapes into ESP instruction. The methodology encompasses qualitative and quantitative analyses, drawing on language data and sociolinguistic observations. The key research questions concern the identification of distinctive features within the sociolinguistic landscape of contemporary Serbia, particularly in relation to English language influences; the effective utilisation of linguistic landscapes as a teaching resource in ESP courses to cultivate language awareness and lingua-pragmatic competence; and the implications of incorporating linguistic landscapes for cultivating critical thinking regarding language contacts in the broader sociolinguistic context. The research identified significant instances of anglicisation in the linguistic landscape of Serbia, highlighting the pervasive influence of English in specialised fields and popular language culture. The proposed model for ESP instruction demonstrated the potential of linguistic landscapes in enhancing language competencies, language awareness, and creative thinking among learners. The findings suggest that linguistic landscapes serve as a valuable resource for language educators, particularly in ESP contexts, as they provide a dynamic platform for language instruction. Incorporating linguistic landscapes can contribute to preserving language standards, addressing the challenges posed by language contacts, and nurturing critical thinking skills among learners. The study’s model offers a paradigm applicable to teaching various foreign languages, promoting a better understanding of language influences in the contemporary multilingual world.

This research undertakes an explorative study into the manipulative potential of colloquialisms within the discourse of English-language business media. The premise of the research is grounded in the increasing infiltration of informal language into formal business media, postulating that such usage can be attributed to the manipulative capacity of colloquialisms. The study aims to answer critical questions such as the role of manipulative rhetoric in business media discourse, how colloquialisms can act as potent tools for manipulation, and the specific functions of these colloquialisms in their manipulative capacity. A quantitative linguistic analysis was performed on a corpus of 100 tokens of colloquialisms, sourced from leading business publications. The results revealed four main functions of colloquialisms: creating vivid imagery (45%), eliciting emotional responses (25%), creating a sense of familiarity (20%), and building rapport (10%). The implications of this research are substantial, as it unravels the strategic use of language in media discourse, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of linguistic manipulation. The findings also offer avenues for further research in the evolving field of media discourse manipulation, particularly in the context of business communication.
